Superior Saturday

Being the horrible speller that I am, I finally learned how to spell superior, which is kinda sad since I live by Lake Superior... Anyway, that made me happy because I could spell this title. So, we return once again to the House, after a long wait, I might say. Arthur is determined to take The Will and the key from Lady Saturday, who is equally determined not to give them up. He is also combating the break out of Nothing that is consuming the Lower House. And he's still a little concerned about becoming immortal, a process that is turning him into something he's never wanted.

The bad: Um, this is Arthur Penhaligon, there isn't anything "bad"

The good: Arthur is nobly struggling to keep the remains of his humanity, which for him means compassion and humility.

My view: I had a hard time getting into Lady Friday, as you can see by the lack of review, since Mr. Nix has been slow about getting the books out in a timly manner, which makes it hard to remember the story, and I've been getting older, and Arthur has not (it does all take place in a week...). But I liked this book, it wasn't too hard to remember (I did lose quite a few threads of the story) the basic jist was there, and I was glad to keep reading this fun story.

4 Sir Thursday

Arthur is unable to return home because a strange boy has taken his place in the world. He barely has a moment to contemplate what to do about this when he is drafted into the army of Sir Thursday. Before Arthur can refuse, he is in the army and shortly to be washed between the ears. Will Arthur be able to regain his memory before something worse happens?

Look to Mister Monday and Drowned Wednesday for negative elements.

Arthur's friends are faithful to him, Arthur is doing his best, and I think he's doing pretty good.

Is Arthur ever going to be able to save The house and not become a denizen? Tension. Who is this creepy Lady Friday and what is her deal? If you've enjoyed these books thus far, these questions are probably foremost in your mind. Keep reading to find out!

3 Drowned Wednesday

Arthur is back in the house. This time with a broken leg. Instead of picking him up like she said she would, Lady Wednesday picks up Arthur's friend Leaf who was sitting on his bed. As Arthur drifts in the sea without any hope being rescued, he find something to cling to. As a reward, he gets marked on his hand, one that will never come off. As his life goes more and more wrong Arthur wishes he had never been pick for this.

Magic is used through out all of the books. The Architect (the one who made everything) is sill absent. Probably a reflection of Mr. Nix's own beliefs.

Arthur, thought still reluctant, is doing the right thing. Suzy is there for him when he needs it, with some funny remarks to cheer him. They complement each other well.

I really recommend these books if you want some good reading. Arthur may be younger than a lot of you, but he is a good character to read about. Trying to adapt to a world he had now idea existed two days ago and now he is the master of emence power and is expected to fight for more. In one week.

2 Grim Tuesday

Just a few short hours after Arthur defeated Mr. Monday he is assaulted by Tuesday. Wasting hours sleeping, Arthur wakes up to see that Tuesday has sold off his whole block, his dad has debt he didn't know about, his sister's college kicked her out and things are going dreadfully wrong. Arthur must find a house and then find a way to save it.

A guy gets his eyes ground out every night. It use to be his liver.

Suzy once again saves Arthur. Arthur is trying to save everybody. Arthur is always very polite and nice to everybody he meets.

Monday and Tuesday are just the being of this fantastical tale. As the days move forward the plots become more and more dire. And I thought that Nothing breaking out and destroying the Lower House was quite dire.

1 Mister Monday

Arthur Penhaligon is an ordinary boy. Other than his crushing asthma, he is regular. After getting out of the hospital for one of his attacks Arthur tries to explain to his track teacher that he CAN'T run. But this teacher has heard it all: he WILL run. As Arthur lies near death two strange men appear out of no where and give him what looks like a hand of a clock.

Really this book has no negative elements. There is a "Architect" who created everything and then left. She also left the Will to carry out her bidding.

Arthur is generally just a nice guy. He loves his parents, he puts himself in danger to save he city and he isn't a brat about it. Suzy helps Arthur when he desperately needs her and she sticks by him. Though the Will is a pain, it is really trying to do what is right. I think.

These books are light hearted and easy to read. They are sweet and funny. But if you are looking for something to challenge you or surprise you, you have come to the wrong place. Still, I had fun reading them.
