5 The Salamander Spell

Princess Grassina spends her time bugging her older sister; who is failing in her attempts to get her magic. This is the greatest entertainment in her life, that is until her mother is cursed with ugliness, inside and out. Then she spends her time running around trying to stop her mother from turning her into an animal. Then, one day, Grassina runs away and discovers something about herself she never knew was possible (we did though).

Magic... And a love spell.

Haywood seems to genuinely care about Grassina (I hope).... Grassina saves the kingdom.... It's the fifth book in The Tales of the Frog Princess....

At best it was better than No Place for Magic; at worst it was boring.

2 Dragon's Breath

Now that Grassina has found Haywood again they never what to be parted, this could be really bad since an enemy is attacking the county's borders. Emma wants to free Haywood for double reasons, not only to make her aunt happy but to save the kingdom. But Emma's nasty grandma isn't going to tell them the secret. When Emma and Eadric sneak it out of her the race begins, to save Haywood and the kingdom, but at what cost?

Witches, magic, ghosts, what more does a fairy tale need?

Emma selflessly puts her self in danger for her aunt, Eadric at her side the whole time. They meet lots of people and are kind to them.

This one is just like the first one, only a different story. The characters develop into stronger better people. The story is fun and different. A nice distraction.

3 Once Upon A Curse

Emma has finally decided that she wants to marry Eadric (um, surprise?). Only she can't, because of the curse, she won't leave her husband without a wife and children without a mother if she touches a flower. But how can she break a curse hundreds of years old?

Negative elements haven't changed since last review, Dragon's Breath. Except there is a vampire in this one.

True love wins the day. *Sigh*. Eadric is still there for Emma through it all, you've got to give the guy points! Even if Emma won't.

Sometimes it is really hard to write reviews for books that don't change. I've told you I like these book, they're funny and amusing. They're well written and interesting. Is there more to say?

1 The Frog Princess

Emma's family is rather different. Other than being royal, her aunt is a witch, her family is cursed, her castle is haunted by old ghosts, and her would be suitor is a frog. And then again, so is she.

Emma's aunt is a witch, and so is Emma. There are ghosts in her house. Magic plays a big role in these books. Some would call it white magic.

Emma is a nice person, she is kind to the people she meets and ready to think the best of them. Eadric, though maybe not the most sensitive person in the world is kind and caring towards Emma, offering to protect her. Emma's aunt is kind and the nicest person towards Emma. She doesn't care that Emma isn't the most normal princess ever.

I like these books, there're funny and entertaining. E.D. Baker has come up with even more ways to look at the world of fairy tales. With likeable and strange characters these books are a fun afternoon of reading.
