3 Dragon Heir

This is the last book (*sob*) of the amazing Heir trilogy. The second book left off with the signed treaty placing all under guild control back in the wizards' fiery hands. Now all hell has broken loose, and our favorite characters are breaking also. Can they find the strength to come together? (Wow, that sounds like a book back!)

Hmmm, a little swearing. Some drug use, but it is firmly frowned upon.

Where to begin? Everyone is fighting their hardest to protect the under guilds from servitude. Redemption is important. Everyone is (a least the good guys are) amazing. Ideals are so important in these books, and yet they don't over look the real every day things either.

I didn't really like this book as much as the others, which made me really sad. It's because in the first two, our main characters made good decisions. And in this one, they're all falling out, and getting angry, and being stupid, which has it's place in stories, but not when the first two books weren't like that!

2 The Wizard Heir

Seph has always known he was different, his foster mother told him of the weirs and wizards, but she couldn't tell him what he wanted to know the most, who his family is. Even since she died, Seph (short and cool for Joseph) has been jumping from school to school with strange events following him everywhere. He continues his search for someone to train him in his power, that he know little about and less to control. And then something bad happens, really bad.

More swearing than the last one, sadly. Seph's parents were never married. Magic is still the source of power for these books.

Honor, self-sacrifice, friendship, gentleness and love are still held in high esteem. Strangely enough, and I've never seen it anywhere else, these books acknowledge the power of Christianity, churches are places of sanctuary and power, and people of the church are respected. There is no mention of Jesus though.

A second, and just as good, book by Ms. Chima, very exciting! Another thing I like about these books is the relationships between the guys and girls (not like it's the focus). As far as I can gather it's been two years since the last book, and Jack and Ellen (18 now) are still pursuing one another, putting each other first and enjoying being together. They're not being stupid, but like friends who love each other. Refreshing.

1 The Warrior Heir

Jack is just like any other kid. Well mostly, the only thing different about him is his heart condition. But all it takes medicine each morning and he is just fine. Then one day he forgets to take it. But instead of dropping dead, Jack feels better than ever. Thus starts a complicated journey of self discovery and magic.

Jack is not paranoid, but people are out to get him. Kill him or sell him. I counted five swearwords total. The only other thing that might be considered negative was the magic. This whole book 'revolves' around magic. If that is a problem this book isn't for you. Warriors come from the afterlife to assist people.

Jack is really a nice guy. He is kind to his mom and sticks by his friends, and his friends stick by him. A lot of people care about Jack and try and do what is right for him. Jack is kind and gentle to these people. For his training dead, but not really, warriors are called; but Jack offers not to 'kill' them. Or for them to just talk about their experiences on the battlefield.

This book is well written and fun. You can relate to Jacks emotions of confusing and frustration and embarrassment, but we also like him because he is humble, kind and fair. I would really recommend this book.
